Saker Sportscar Challenge

The Saker Sportscar Challenge is a race format in which the Saker can fulfil its original goal perfectly. It offers the Saker owners the ideal playground where they can enjoy the pleasure of competing against each other. At the moment, the Dutch Saker Sportscar Challenge is in its third year since the start. However, the plan is to introduce the concept abroad in several countries in the future.

Reliable technology
The Saker Sportscar has especially been developed for this race format. The “Saker” is a solid built pure racing car with an appealing design and reliable technology. Crucial elements like the engine, gearbox and wheel bearings are original Subaru parts. As a matter of fact, these standard production components are used in order to keep racing affordable. For the development of the chassis an experienced well known engineer has been consulted: Bruce Turnbull from New-Zeeland.

Aim
The main aim of the Challenge is to race with technical equal but challenging cars. From the beginning on, this idea has been the foundation of the whole Saker Sportscar concept. Namely to enable as many drivers as possible to be able to compete in equal but very competitive racing cars, especially designed for motorsport.

The Saker Sportscar Challenge has a lot to offer.

·          racing for fun

·          lots of racing for relatively little money

·          reliability

·          durability

·          low running costs

·          real challenge

Racing for fun
Following this philosophy, it stands for a lot of driving. In the Dutch Saker Sportscar Challenge, a day at the track enables each car to be driven in two training sessions of 25 minutes, followed by two races ranging between one and three hours per race.

Teams are free to deploy several drivers in one race car. This means that teams consisting of one driver are competing to other teams where for example three drivers share a car. This is possible because during these endurance races all teams are obliged to make the same amount of pit stops. All these events have the same background philosophy, including principles of geniality and fairness among all participants, so a real club racing atmosphere. The circuits are all relatively close together, therefore most races are on circuits like Zandvoort, Assen and Zolder and the program consists of at least seven races per year.

Affordable
The Saker Sportscar Challenge stands for affordable racing! By using standard Subaru production parts, filled up with own assembly parts from Saker Europe, costs are kept low. The prices for these parts comprise only a quarter from what is normally charged at comparable race cars. Also the design of the car enables easy and quick preparation. The bodywork can easily be removed both at the front and the back of the car which facilitates easy accessibility of the different parts.

Reliable

The Subaru technology has been a winner in many reliability examinations from independent organisations like the German ADAC. That is also the reason why Saker Sportscars has chosen for the 260 HP turbo- flat twin engine of the Subaru Impreza WRX, one of the most reliable sport engines of the moment. The development and production of the cars and the preparation of the engines is all being done under direct management of Saker Sportscars.

The challenge: a design dedicated to the drivers art
You think these words might be somewhat pretentious? Well, we don’t think so! With its outstanding shape, the gull-wing doors, rear wheel drive and the mid-engine with 260HP and 340 Nm, this must be the challenge for each racing driver!
