The SAKER ImProvia World Final Champion 2011 has been announced!
On Sunday October the 30th, Circuit Park Zandvoort was completely dedicated to the SAKER ImProvia World Final. For the first time in eight years that the Saker Sportscar Challenge is organized, the international finals took place.
It was a thrilling and spectacular race day and with 27 Sakers the greatest grid in history!
After the training periods on the Saturday and Sunday, with 11 teams diving under the 1.50 limit, at 11.30 hours the K & N Sprint Race took place. Unfortunately the start became a big mess, because of a violent blow where five Sakers were involved. Not the dream start of the event, but fortunately, all drivers left their cars physically unharmed and there is only material damage.
The race will then restart, and it will be a 1-2-3 for the open Saker Sprint. Rudolf Meyer, Coos Schouten Jeroen van den Heuvel grab the stage.
The Autosport Company Sprintrace has a dry start but because of light rain, the conditions on slicks had become increasingly difficult. It is remarkable to see that other drivers are literally "floating" and the victory of the sprint race goes to Derwin Belt in SPAA05 Saker, the second place is for Laurens Meijer. Evan Kersbergen debuts in the Saker Sportscar Challenge with a fine third place!
The Meyer Beheer Endurance Race was completely driven in wet conditions and proved a worthy final element to the finals. After the pit stops it was Laurens Meijer who took over the head position of Derwin Belt and no longer gave it up.
After the finish flag and charged punishment times it became; Belt first in the SPAA05 RapX Saker, second Laurens Meijer in Jadbalja Saker GT and third Team Hekker in the open Saker Sprint.
The ranking of the day and so the title of the ImProvia SAKER World Final Champion 2011 goes, with only one point difference, to Derwin Belt SPAA05 from Bas Koeten Racing.
In second place Laurens Meijer in Jadbalja 2 and third; team Hekker, with drivers Floris-Jan Hekker and Coos Schouten.
The battle for the overall championship of the Saker Sportscar Challenge 2011 was not until the very last minute of the match decided. When the ceremony began it became clear that father and son Gerrit & Rudolf Meijer (Jadbalja Go Fast) ultimately took the championship of 2011, congratulations! Finally, Paul Rose caught the first title in the English Saker Sportscar Challenge 2011.
In short, a spectacular race day for everyone, for the drivers and also the spectators of the ImProvia SAKER World Final!
